Existing Market

From what I gathered from my own expectations and from my gathered feedback, my venture shows great promises. My existing market agrees that my Coffee ATMs are the future of coffee distribution. The current market that I am targeting include college students and faculty. There has been very little thought about expanding into different markets like metropolitan areas or big cities. In the future, I plan to pique the interest of consumers in the business world, instead of focusing on Millennial college students.

Consumers in in the business world have little time to relax and take a coffee break, let alone wait in line for one. Marketing a quick and painless coffee concept to business workers is the future of Coffee ATMs. A business man that is running late to work and had little to no sleep the night before will be in search for a quick and easy coffee that fits his coffee preferences. My Coffee ATMs will be there to help out busy business men and women when waiting in line is out of the question. These ATMs will be located near major downtown business offices. Placing the ATMs in the path of business people will increase product awareness. Being able to preorder their coffee and have it ready by the time they reach the machine will blow these business people out of the water.

New Market

- Sport Stadiums (Baseball, Football, Soccer, etc.)

The new market I turned to was marketing Coffee ATMs to various sport facilities. In other terms, signing a contract as an outside vendor to place these ATMs inside different sport venues. By doing this, this reaches an entirely different and wider market. Instead of focusing on marketing my concept to consumers, the idea of marketing towards other businesses and companies seemed like the right move. After talking to two different sports facility owners, what surprised me the most was that hockey arenas and baseball stadiums were more interested in my concept than football stadiums.

I did expect football facilities to be less interested in Coffee ATMs because of low demand for coffee compared to other concession items, including beer and hotdogs. Sport facilities like hockey and baseball offer a larger variety of food and beverage items. A nice hot cup of coffee is more appealing in a hockey arena than a football stadium because of the climate difference in each facility. When thinking about which of the two markets is more attractive, the preexisting market (college students/faculty) appears to be more attractive because of the high demand for caffeine compared to fluctuating demand for coffee in the new market.

  1. Hey Remi,

I like your idea of expanding your business to sport faculties. But I am also still convinced that you will experience a great success with offering your Coffee ATMs to students. Today when I had a flight to Mexico I thought it might also be a good idea to offer those Coffee ATMs at the airport. I am sure you will be very successful and profitable with your business idea.

  2. Hi Remi, I definitely would not have thought of sports facilities as a potential market, but if you liken coffee to redbull, this could be a really cool concept. Especially when you're talking about facilities such as hockey stadiums- the warmth of the coffee would be a big seller in a cold arena. In addition, it might be helpful to focus on seasonal opportunities, such as outdoor sports in winter!
