My prototypical customer is your basic college student. This customer loves their venti white chocolate mocha, non-fat, no whip, double shot, and two pumps raspberry coffee. This customer is in their early 20s and has an act for karaoke and hanging out with friends. They have a tight schedule that is focused on classes, studying, sorority life, and sleeping when ever there is time. Their favorite place to study is at a little coffee shop located downtown. They cannot go a day without their coffee. When not having their face shoved in a textbook, they are often found relaxing in their hammock outside of the library, watching the sun set for the day. If they are not on campus, they are either attending a sorority event or on their way to work. This customer always has a packed schedule with very little wiggle room. When they have a chance to breath and decompress, they often take sometime to escape from the hectic world around them and enjoy a nice book.
Final Set of Questions:
I definitely can relate to my prototypical customer. I based my concept on my own personal needs and those that have the same needs as me. That being said, I don't think it is a coincidence that my customer has stuff in common with me because my concept was focused on meeting my caffeine needs and to help others in the coffee loving community. I believe that most business ideas stem from the inventors own personal needs and then evolves into something everyone (or almost everyone) can benefit from.

Hey Remi,
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with you that a lot of business ideas stem from the investors personal needs, otherwise they probably won't recognize that there is something that has to be improved. I also think that especially students with a tight schedule will take advantage of the ATMs because they save a lot of waiting time. But it is also quite useful for normal impatient students, who just don't like to wait.
In general I liked how detailed you described your customer avatar.
initial ideas are easy when you are the main stakeholder but if you can really find a need in others and understand it better than they do - that is where you know people will be willing to pay you for it. If the customer base is a set of you and the exact copying of you then you may have 0 sales. Sometimes the world needs something that you dont understand - like paper checks .. who uses those anymore yet billions are printed each year.
