8A - Solving the Problem

When thinking of ways to reduce long coffee lines, coffee ATMs come to mind. Students could preorder their coffee via App and have their coffee waiting for them at the nearest coffee ATM. There is a similar concept that produces cupcakes (Sprinkles). There could be coffee ATMs scattered around campus to reduce lines and conflict for students. These ATMs would have multiple pickup boxes/cubbies in each machine to maximize pickup rates and reduce wait times. Customers would have a time limit to pick up their order. If not picked up within that set time, then the order would be disposed of by the machine and the customer would be refunded their money. These ATMs would provide customers with customized beverages meant to suit most coffee lovers needs.

  1. Oops - my comments on your interviews were apparently exactly what you were thinking lol. Great idea i guess. I have used a cupcake ATM and there is a huge wow factor to these machines. The new coke machines that have a billion flavors are pretty cool too so I would say the market is prime for the ultimate pre-order coffee machine. The will make the campus smell amazing. You could write up the business plan ad put a virtual prototype together then sell the idea to a coffee supplier without spending any real money.

  2. Hello,
I have never personally heard of a coffee (or cupcake) ATM but it seems like a great idea. This idea could possible be expanded past coffee and cupcakes and money to many other things. Maybe it would be an idea to consider in the future. I am not a fan of coffee but I know many people do and making buying coffee easier would definitely be a lucritive idea.

  3. This seems like a very interesting idea. Would customers "order" the coffee on their smart phones? That's what it seems like here. However, what if the ATM functioned like a vending machine, or like a giant keurig? Essentially, people can punch in what they want on the machine, and it will come out instantly. I feel like if people order through an app, there may be overlap between customers, and one customer may need to wait for another to pick up their coffee, which could result in even longer waiting. The ability to multi task or focus on one customer at a time is huge.
